Meet the Team: Tom Sparke, Investment Manager
Tom Sparke is Gibbs Denley’s Investment Manager, as well as being one of 5 Associate Directors.
He began his career in investment management in 2003, when he graduated from the University of Bradford. He began at Halifax Share Dealing (now Lloyds Share Dealing), working there for four years before joining Transact. Over the course of 18 months at Transact he studied for and gained his Investment Management Certificate (IMC).
In 2008, Tom joined Gibbs Denley as an Investment Analyst, becoming Investment Manager in 2013 and Associate Director in 2014. Since then, he has also gained his Certificate in Discretionary Investment Management, which enables him to run our Investment Model Portfolios on a Discretionary basis, as well as Advisory.
At quarterly Investment Committee Meetings, Tom is also responsible for presenting recommendations for asset allocations to the Gibbs Denley Investment Committee, backed up with the research and economic analysis that he and Investment Analyst Benjamin Benson have conducted. Much of this is done online, although Tom also attends regular conferences and meetings with key people and organisations within the industry. Tom is responsible for overseeing the Investment Model Portfolios and monitoring the market conditions to make the most of investment potential, and minimise losses where necessary.
Tom works closely with Director Mark Denley on our Discretionary Investment Model Portfolios, checking performance of the funds and markets. Being able to make these changes for Discretionary Investment clients enables the Investment Committee to make changes quickly and efficiently, allowing them to maximise on potential gains or reduce the impact of sudden downturns in the market.

Tom lives in South Cambridgeshire with his wife and two young daughters. He is a life-long football fan, and enjoys attending games when family life allows it. In his spare time he is also a published illustrator.
